What is TheSuperNoob Series?
TheSuperNoob Series is a launchpad for those struggling to move to the next step in programming or those just starting their journey to become Programmers, Data Scientist, or some other code oriented specialist. TheSuperNoob Series helps you to create a solid foundation with fundamental knowledge integral to the critical thinking needed to be successful in these domains.
What is a Noob, and what makes one Super?
A Noob or Newb is someone new and inexperienced in a particular domain or specialty. They are new to just about everything, even new to getting the information needed for success. Often, this combination of a lack knowledge and resources creates very special circumstances that only exist when you are a Noob! This is when you are the most open to learning and you are positioned to absorb most. You don't know what's important yet, so you absorb it all! A SuperNoob takes this to the next level by applying this principal at every stage of their knowledge and journey! We go after every grain of information as if we were just starting out, never taking any information for granted. SuperNoobs build their "knowledge towers" from the foundation up! A "knowledge base" if you will. We allow a natural progression to guide us to the next level of learning so that we never lose any knowledge along the way. I find this the most effective way to learn, and while it definitely takes longer, the knowledge gained is forever!
What will I learn?
First, we will work on your understanding of the domain in which you will be working/learning. Next, we will explore the building blocks of that domain and start learning the "Whats and Whys." Then, we will move into specifics and narrow our scope in order to achieve small goals. We will then expand those goals and start building our "knowledge tower" with some of the more "interesting" stuff! I call this the "Hows and Whens!" TheSuperNoob Series focuses on developing a strong core of knowledge, which at sometimes may feel like you are not making progress towards your end goal. Remember... Imagining an outcome is far easier then achieving one! I want to help you ACTUALLY do what you are dreaming of!!!! Not just dream about it.
How are these courses different from everything else I seen or taken?
TheSuperNoob Series have been designed for two types of learners in particular. The new unexposed learner and the "stuck" learner who has tried other methods of learning a skill but can't progress to the next level. The second type of learner. the "stuck" learner will first notice that there are no coding assignments! This will come as a surprise to most, but trust me, what you need to learn first has nothing to do with syntax! This is often "why" learners become stuck! They are attempting to build a strong "knowledge tower" on a weak "knowledge base." This is of course, impossible. Your knowledge will be faulty and you will exhaust exponentially more time and energy unlearning misinformation. Most other courses out there are what I like to call "Syntax Mills" and only teach you a third of what it means to be a coder. TheSuperNoob Series properly prepares with the first step in your journey, so that you can maximize every step after!
Wait... No code?! How?
You heard me right! No Code Assignments! Now that doesn't mean no code! We are going to use very high level, very human readable pseudocode(notation resembling a programming language) which hopefully you will continue to use throughout your career. TheSuperNoob Series is about how to first see your problem, then formulate your solution, and lastly communicate it to the system. In practice, this can be done in any programming language using any programming paradigm and is project specific and unimportant at this stage.
How does the website differ from whats on Udemy?
TheSuperNoob website is an information source and is home to our blog, forum, FAQ and official Online Store. Our site is directly linked to our Udemy courses and should be considered supplemental to that material. Currently, course material is exclusively available on Udemy!
